Stock Market Today: Sensex, Nifty End Lower for Second Day Amid RBI Policy, US Trade Concerns

India’s benchmark equity indices extended their losing streak for the second straight session today, as cautious sentiment prevailed among investors. Uncertainty surrounding the Reserve Bank of India’s monetary policy and ongoing US trade tensions weighed heavily on the markets.

The BSE Sensex fell by 166 points (0.21%) to close at 80,544, while the NSE Nifty dipped 75 points (0.31%) to settle at 24,574.

Mid & Small Caps Bear the Brunt

The broader market witnessed sharper declines:

  • BSE MidCap index slipped 1%
  • BSE SmallCap index slumped 1.1%

  • Trent: +0.8%

Except for Bankex, which managed a slight gain, all other sectoral indices ended in the red.

  • Healthcare: -1.7%
  • Focused IT: -1.7%
  • IT Sector: -1.6%
  • Realty: -1.5%
