Three-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have officially appointed Abhishek Nayar as their new head coach, marking a fresh chapter for the franchise ahead of the IPL 2026 season. Nayar replaces Chandrakant Pandit, who concluded his tenure following the 2025 campaign.

During his stint as Assistant Coach of KKR, Nayar was instrumental in shaping several young players who went on to become match-winners for the franchise.

Hailing from Mumbai, Nayar’s growth as a coach has been consistent and impactful. In 2024, he served as the Assistant Coach of the Indian men’s national cricket team under Head Coach Gautam Gambhir.
