All-Party Meeting Scheduled for July 19 Ahead of Monsoon Session 2025: Kiren Rijiju

The Central Government has announced that it will convene an all-party meeting on July 19, just ahead of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, which is set to begin on July 21 and continue until August 21, 2025. The announcement was made by Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Thursday.

No Parliament Sittings on August 13 and 14

As per the official schedule, the Monsoon Session will not have sittings on August 13 and 14, in view of the Independence Day celebrations.

In a post on X, Minister Rijiju stated:

“The Hon’ble President of India has approved the proposal of the Government to convene the Monsoon Session of Parliament from July 21 to August 21, 2025. In view of the Independence Day celebrations, there will be no sittings on the 13th and 14th of August.”

First Session After Operation Sindoor

This session marks the first Parliament sitting following Operation Sindoor, which was launched on May 7 in retaliation for the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 people lost their lives. The opposition is expected to raise key concerns and demand discussions on national security and related issues during the session.

Opposition Demands Special Session

Opposition parties had previously called for a special session to discuss urgent national matters, particularly after all-party delegations returned from visits related to the Pahalgam terror attack. The upcoming Monsoon Session is expected to be highly charged with these issues at the forefront.

Recap of Budget Session 2025

The Budget Session, held earlier this year from January 31 to March 25, saw 26 sittings across both Houses. The session included discussions and passage of major legislative items such as:

  • Waqf Amendment Bill
  • Demands for Grants of various ministries (Railways, Jal Shakti, Agriculture)
  • Appropriation Bills for 2024–25 and Supplementary Demands for Manipur
  • The Finance Bill, 2025
  • Debates in the Rajya Sabha on the functioning of key ministries including Education, Health, Railways, and Home Affairs.

High Expectations for Monsoon Session

With heightened political activity, national security concerns, and a packed legislative agenda, the Monsoon Session 2025 is expected to be closely watched and vigorously debated.
