Assam Awaits Emotional Release Of Zubeen Garg’s Last Film ‘Roi Roi Binale’

Guwahati: Assam is gearing up for an emotional cinematic moment as Zubeen Garg’s last film, Roi Roi Binale, hits the screens this Friday across the state. With tickets sold out for the next one week, the musical is expected to set new records for Assamese cinema and mark a historic milestone in regional film history.

Exhibitors have reported an unprecedented surge in demand, prompting theatres to increase show counts. Some cinema halls will reportedly screen seven shows daily, beginning at 4:45 am and ending close to 2:30 am.

Zubeen Garg’s Final Musical Film ‘Roi Roi Binale’ Draws Huge Anticipation

In Roi Roi Binale, Garg plays a blind musician a role that has already touched the hearts of millions. The film features 11 songs composed by Garg himself, revolving around the struggles and passion of an artist.

The trailer struck an emotional chord, showing the musician lying senseless on a beach while someone tries to wake him up eerily reflecting Garg’s tragic death in Singapore on September 19. One of his dialogues, “The sea is really vast. Will I be able to swim?” has deeply moved his fans across the region.

Known for his artistic integrity, Garg often described himself as a “social-leftist” and believed that “an artiste should stand with the masses, not with the monarch.” Roi Roi Binale was one of his iconic songs from the 1990s, which he had earlier described as his “darkest” creation.

Massive Advance Bookings And Nationwide Release For ‘Roi Roi Binale’

According to Sourav Dutta, General Manager (Sales and Distribution) at UFO Moviez India, the film will be released on 91 screens across the Northeast and nearly 90 screens across India. “Almost all shows for the next one week on BookMyShow are sold out. We’re adding 14 new screens to meet the demand,” Dutta said.

Cities such as Lucknow, Indore, Patna, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Dehradun, Jaipur, Kochi, and Goa will screen the film many for the first time ever for an Assamese production. Requests for screenings have also come from Nepal.

Siddharth Goenka of Goenka Enterprises, the film’s distributor, said Roi Roi Binale will likely continue uninterrupted for at least two months in Assam, with around 600 daily shows an unmatched achievement for Assamese cinema.

Government Support And Security For The Release

The Assam Cabinet has announced that the state’s GST share from the film’s revenue will be donated to the Kalaguru Artiste Foundation, established by Garg to support underprivileged artists.

Assam Police has also arranged special deployments to manage the massive crowds expected outside theatres. “We will ensure smooth crowd management. This is an emotional event for the people,” said IGP (Law and Order) Akhilesh Kumar Singh.

A Final Salute To Assam’s Musical Icon

Roi Roi Binale, directed by Rajesh Bhuyan and co-produced by Zubeen Garg, Garima Garg, and Shyamantak Gautam, is more than a film it is a heartfelt farewell to one of Assam’s most beloved voices. With over one crore views on its trailer and songs on YouTube, the film has already etched its place as a cultural phenomenon.

As theatres prepare for packed shows and teary-eyed audiences, Roi Roi Binale stands as a testament to Zubeen Garg’s artistic spirit and enduring love for his people.
