Bahuda Yatra 2025 Begins: The sacred Bahuda Yatra, symbolizing the return of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra from the Gundicha Temple to Puri Srimandir, begins today. This marks the culmination of the annual Rath Yatra celebrations, drawing massive crowds and religious fervor.
Over 6,000 Personnel Deployed for Safety Measures
To ensure seamless execution of the grand procession, over 6,000 Odisha Police officers and 800 Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) personnel have been strategically positioned throughout Puri. Senior officials, including DGP YB Khurania, are actively supervising the arrangements.
Advanced Surveillance and Crowd Management in Place
More than 275 AI-powered CCTV cameras have been installed to monitor crowd movements and ensure security. Traffic diversions and special regulations have been implemented to facilitate smooth vehicular flow amid the expected surge of devotees.
Ritual Schedule Announced by SJTA
According to the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), the ‘pahandi’ ritual — the ceremonial procession of the deities — is set to begin at 12 noon. The revered ‘Chhera Pahanra’ ritual, where Gajapati Maharaja Divyasingha Deb sweeps the chariots, will occur between 2:30 and 3:30 PM. Chariot pulling is scheduled to start at 4 PM.
Devotees Flock for Sandhya Darshan
A sea of devotees gathered at the Gundicha Temple last evening to witness the sacred ‘sandhya darshan’ of the deities, a spiritually significant moment ahead of the Bahuda Yatra.
