Blue Economy: India-Norway Strengthen Marine Cooperation
At the Monaco Marine Conference, Union Minister for Earth Sciences Dr. Jitendra Singh met Norway’s Minister of International Development, Åsmund Grøver Aukrust, to reinforce bilateral cooperation in marine sectors. The meeting also became a platform for expressing solidarity as Norway extended support to India over the recent terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam.

During their interaction in Monaco, Norway’s Minister Åsmund Aukrust conveyed heartfelt condolences over the recent terrorist strike in Pahalgam. These projects address concerns like coastal erosion, biodiversity preservation, sustainable tourism, and fishery development.

Speaking at the Monaco Marine Conference, Dr. Singh reaffirmed India’s firm dedication to developing a sustainable and resilient Blue Economy. He reminded the audience that Prime Minister Modi had emphasized the Blue Economy in two successive Independence Day addresses, reflecting its strategic national importance.
SAHAV Portal Recognised as a Global Digital Public Good
One of the key achievements highlighted by Dr. Singh was the launch of the SAHAV portal, a GIS-based decision support system. Marking International Ocean Day, the portal has gained recognition as a Digital Public Good, enhancing India’s stature in marine environmental planning and ocean governance.
The India-Norway bilateral dialogue at Monaco signals stronger cooperation on marine and environmental fronts while underscoring international support for India’s stance against terrorism.
