Budget 2026: Bharat-VISTAAR AI Platform to Power Smarter Farming

Budget 2026 launches Bharat-VISTAAR, a multilingual AI platform integrating AgriStack and ICAR to give farmers customised advisories

Published on

KEY TAKEAWAYS:
  • ‘Bharat-VISTAAR’ will deliver multilingual, AI-driven farm advisories.
  • Integrates AgriStack portals with ICAR’s crop practice packages.
  • Budget links AI push with skilling, AVGC growth, and new design institutes.

The Bharat-VISTAAR AI platform was unveiled in the Union Budget 2026–27 by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman as a flagship step to raise farm productivity and cut risks through personalised advisories. The platform Virtually Integrated System to Access Agricultural Resources will combine AgriStack data with Indian Council of Agricultural Research best-practice packages, powered by AI.

The goal: help farmers make better crop decisions with timely, localised guidance.

How Bharat-VISTAAR Will Work

By integrating AgriStack portals and ICAR’s agronomy knowledge with AI systems, the platform will generate tailored advisories for crop planning, pest management, input use, and weather-linked decisions. The multilingual interface is designed to ensure accessibility across regions.

AI as a Tool for Inclusive Growth

The Budget frames emerging tech as central to citizen empowerment. Beyond farmers, the AI push is expected to benefit women in STEM, youth seeking upskilling, and Divyangjan through new learning and employment pathways.

Key initiatives supporting this ecosystem include:

  • AI Mission
  • National Quantum Mission
  • Anusandhan National Research Fund
  • Research, Development and Innovation Fund

AVGC, Design, and the Orange Economy

The Budget also spotlighted the fast-growing AVGC (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics) sector, projected to need ~2 million professionals by 2030. Support will be extended to the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies to set up AVGC Content Creator Labs in 15,000 schools and 500 colleges.

Additionally, a new National Institute of Design in eastern India is proposed to strengthen design education as the industry scales.

By pairing AI in agriculture with creative-tech skilling, the Budget positions technology as a cross-sector growth engine from farms to digital studios.
