  • Payments up to ₹5 lakh can now be made via QR code, UPI and PoS.
  • Cash payments up to ₹5 lakh will no longer be accepted.

Cuttack: The CDA digital payment facility has been launched by the Cuttack Development Authority in a major push towards digital governance and citizen-friendly services. The new system has been introduced at the CDA office in Cuttack, aimed at streamlining transactions and improving transparency.

Officials said the move was taken on a priority basis in public interest to reduce cash handling and speed up financial processes.

Digital Payments Enabled at Single-Window Counter

A dedicated Digital Payment Cell has been made operational at the Finance Branch single-window counter at Arunodaya Bhawan on Link Road. Under the new system, allottees, licensees and applicants can make payments of up to ₹5 lakh using QR code, UPI and card swipe modes.

For such transactions, cash deposits up to ₹5 lakh will no longer be accepted, marking a decisive shift towards cashless operations.

Measures to Ensure Accountability

To strengthen financial transparency, CDA has directed all branch officers to submit copies of every demand letter to the Digital Payment Cell. Officials said this step will help maintain proper records and ensure accountability across departments.

The system is expected to significantly reduce delays caused by manual verification and bank-related procedures.

Vice-Chairperson Highlights Citizen Benefits

Vice-Chairperson, CDA, Kirandeep Kaur Sahota, said the initiative would transform the authority’s day-to-day functioning.

She noted that the enhanced QR code transaction limit of ₹5 lakh would eliminate the need for citizens to make repeated bank visits for demand drafts, saving time and effort. The move, she said, reflects CDA’s commitment to simplified procedures, efficient service delivery and technology-driven governance.

Step Towards Digital Governance

Officials believe the introduction of PoS-based digital payments will not only improve public convenience but also align CDA’s operations with broader digital governance goals. The authority plans to further expand technology-led initiatives to enhance transparency and efficiency in urban administration.
