Coal Block Auction of Coal Mines for Commercial Mining

New Delhi: Coal Block Auction 2022: The Union government today Wednesday said that coal blocks have been auctioned to date for commercial mining. The Ministry of Coal, will be launching the 6th tranche of the auction of coal mines for sale of coal on tomorrow November 03. The coal mines including the lignite mines are a mix of CMSP and MMDR, fully explored and partially explored Coking, Non–Coking.


The Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, will be the chief guest and will be launching the next tranche of Coal Block Auction 2022. Union Minister of Coal, Mines and Parliamentary Affairs, Shri Pralhad Joshi and Minister of State for Coal, Mines and Railways, Shri Raosaheb Patil Danve will be the guests of honor for the occasion.

The beginning of sale of tender document shall start from November 03, 2022. Details of the mines, auction terms, timelines etc. can be accessed on MSTC auction platform.


The auction shall be held online through a transparent two phase process, on the basis of Percentage Revenue Share. New coal block allotment list 2022 shared later.

Notably, According to information, e-auction for eight coal mines was conducted on 13 September and for two coal mines on 14 September, 2022. Total peak rate capacity (PRC) of the mines being put up for e-auction is 39.31 million ton per annum.

Earlier, The Nominated Authority, Ministry of coal has till now successfully auctioned 43 coal mines with PRC of 85.54 million ton per annum.
