Government Preparedness

Union Minister of State for Health and AYUSH (Independent Charge), Prataprao Jadhav, emphasized that the central government is fully prepared to tackle any potential escalation in COVID-19 cases. In a recent statement to ANI, he said:

“Both our Central Health Department and the AYUSH Ministry are fully alert and closely monitoring the situation across all States. We have spoken with the respective Health and AYUSH Secretaries, as well as other concerned ministers.”

He also reassured the public that the infrastructure developed during previous waves—such as oxygen plants, ICU beds, and quarantine facilities—has been reviewed and upgraded where necessary.

“We’ve reviewed the infrastructure built during the earlier COVID waves… Our health systems are well-equipped and ready to handle any situation that may arise in response to COVID,” Jadhav said.

Key Points:

  • Active COVID-19 cases in India: 3,961
  • Total deaths since January 2025: 32
  • Highest active caseload: Kerala with 1,435 cases
  • Government assures full preparedness with upgraded infrastructure

While the numbers remain significantly lower than previous pandemic waves, authorities have urged continued caution, especially in high-density urban areas.
