NEW DELHI: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday said the Centre is fully prepared to discuss the NEET controversy in Parliament and address every genuine concern raised by students. He also criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of turning students’ grievances into a political campaign during the Monsoon Session.

Pradhan’s remarks came after Rahul Gandhi, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and several senior Opposition leaders staged a protest outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence, demanding the Education Minister’s resignation over the police action against students protesting the alleged NEET paper leak.

Dharmendra Pradhan Accuses Congress of Politicising Students

In a post on social media platform X, Pradhan alleged that Rahul Gandhi and the Congress were exploiting students to create political confrontation instead of participating in parliamentary debate.

According to the minister, the government had already conveyed its willingness to hold a detailed discussion on the NEET issue, but the Congress chose public protests over democratic deliberations.

Pradhan said students deserve certainty, reforms and accountability rather than being used as political symbols.

Government Reiterates Commitment to NEET Reforms

The Education Minister said the government remains committed to addressing students’ concerns through Parliament and implementing reforms where necessary.

He stated that the Centre’s focus is on ensuring transparency, accountability and confidence in the examination system.

“Our government remains 100 per cent committed to discussing NEET and addressing every genuine concern of our youth on the floor of the House,” Pradhan said.

Jitendra Singh Meets Rahul Gandhi During Protest

Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Jitendra Singh, accompanied by Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, met Rahul Gandhi at the protest site and appealed to him to end the sit-in.

According to Jitendra Singh, he assured the Leader of the Opposition that the government was ready to discuss all NEET-related issues in Parliament. However, he claimed Rahul Gandhi insisted on the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan before ending the protest.
