DigiLocker Services Expanded Nationwide: Citizens Can Now Access 1,938 Digital Facilities Across India

New Delhi: The National e-Governance Division (NeGD), under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), has reached a historic milestone by enabling pan-India integration of government services through the DigiLocker and e-District platforms. With this achievement, citizens across all 36 States and Union Territories can now access close to 2,000 digital services seamlessly, anytime and anywhere.

According to an official statement, the integrated services span a wide range of citizen requirements, including certificates, welfare schemes, bill payments, and essential facilities. This integration not only enhances convenience and efficiency but also boosts transparency in governance. The development is being hailed as a giant step forward in the Digital India programme, fostering paperless, mobile-first governance and contributing directly to India’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

DigiLocker services strengthen India’s digital public infrastructure

DigiLocker has emerged as a cornerstone of India’s digital ecosystem by effectively addressing challenges related to interoperability, data security, and multi-stakeholder coordination. The platform’s reliable and inclusive design empowers citizens by ensuring trusted access to essential digital services, making it one of the strongest pillars of India’s digital governance framework.

State-wise access to DigiLocker services across India

With the latest expansion, Maharashtra leads the nation with 254 services, followed by Delhi with 123, Karnataka with 113, Assam with 102, and Uttar Pradesh with 86. Kerala and Jammu & Kashmir each provide 77 services, Andhra Pradesh offers 76, Gujarat has 64, while Tamil Nadu and Goa deliver 63 each. Haryana and Himachal Pradesh stand at 60 and 58 services respectively. In total, citizens across India now have access to 1,938 integrated services.

AI-driven approach to expand e-Government services

Building on this success, NeGD plans to integrate more services by adopting cutting-edge technologies powered by Artificial Intelligence. The expansion roadmap includes structured training programmes and workshops to raise awareness at the State level. The adoption of emerging digital solutions is expected to increase inclusivity and ensure better last-mile delivery of governance services.

NeGD’s journey in empowering Digital India

Created in 2009 under the Digital India Corporation, the National e-Governance Division has been central to implementing e-Governance projects across India. It supports Ministries and Departments at both central and State levels by providing technical and advisory expertise. Over the years, NeGD has developed and managed several national-level digital platforms including DigiLocker, Entity Locker, UMANG, OpenForge, API Setu, myScheme, India Stack Global, Meri Pehchaan, and UX4G.

This achievement underscores the government’s continued commitment to technology-driven governance, fully aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a digitally enabled, inclusive India.
