Tashkent: India’s Divyanshi Bhowmick created history by becoming the first Indian in 36 years to win the U-15 girls’ singles title at the prestigious Asian Youth Table Tennis Championships.
The 14-year-old prodigy stunned top contenders with a dominant performance throughout the tournament, culminating in a 4-2 victory over China’s Zhu Qihi in a thrilling final. Her gold medal run included three consecutive wins against Chinese players—a feat never before achieved by an Indian in the youth category of this competition.
Divyanshi, seeded second, not only brought glory to India with her breakthrough performance but also secured qualification for the upcoming World Youth Championships.
This victory marks a major milestone in Indian table tennis and positions Divyanshi as a rising star on the global stage.
