Dy CM Pravati Parida Surveys Flood-Hit Areas in Balasore, Promises Swift Relief and Action

Published on

Balasore: Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida conducted both aerial and on-ground surveys of flood-affected zones in Balasore district, especially the Bhograi and Baliapal blocks, where residents remain stranded after the second wave of flooding caused by the Subarnarekha river.

Despite a lack of fresh rainfall, the river’s rising water level has led to widespread inundation, crippling daily life and damaging crops. Farmers lamented extensive losses, calling this the worst flood in recent memory.

Parida, joined by MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi, MLAs Subasini Jena, Santosh Khatua, and Manas Dutta, along with senior administrative and police officials, began her tour from Talsari via helicopter, followed by a road journey to Bhograi and Baliapal. She then traveled by boat to Chaudhuri Kuda village under Madhupura Panchayat, where she interacted directly with flood-affected families.

Locals expressed concerns over inadequate relief distribution, stagnant water, and agricultural destruction. Responding swiftly, the Deputy CM instructed local officials to accelerate aid delivery and assured citizens that their issues would be addressed without delay.

“Our government is fully committed to efficient and empathetic disaster management. All valid concerns will be resolved promptly,” she stated.

Her visit reflects the Odisha government’s proactive approach to disaster relief, community engagement, and monsoon flood response in coastal districts.
