Ahmedabad: The FICCI centenary celebrations Ahmedabad began with a strong message of economic ambition and national progress, as Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the landmark event on Tuesday.

Positioning the moment as historic, Patel emphasized that FICCI’s 100-year journey aligns with India’s broader vision of entering a developed phase by 2047, calling it a rare convergence of milestones.

Speaking at the National Executive Committee meeting, Patel described FICCI as one of India’s most influential and long-standing industry institutions. He underlined how its role has evolved alongside India’s economic transformation.

He credited major national initiatives such as Digital India, Startup India, Make in India, and Skill India for accelerating the country’s journey toward self-reliance. According to him, FICCI has consistently acted as a bridge between policy and industry, supporting this transition.

The Chief Minister stressed that the current phase of “Amrit Kaal” presents an unprecedented opportunity for collaborative growth between government and private enterprise.

Gujarat’s economic strength sets national benchmark

Patel highlighted Gujarat’s remarkable economic performance, positioning it as a leading growth engine for India. The state contributes around 8.3% to the national GDP, 18% to industrial production, and a significant 27% to exports.

He pointed out that Gujarat’s development model driven by policy consistency and strong governance has gained global recognition. Nearly 100 Fortune 500 companies have established operations in the state, reinforcing its reputation as an investment hub.

Ahmedabad’s selection as the launch venue for FICCI’s centenary celebrations further reflects Gujarat’s strategic importance in India’s industrial landscape.

The Chief Minister revealed that Gujarat has already charted a long-term roadmap titled “Viksit Gujarat @ 2047,” which aligns with India’s broader “Viksit Bharat @ 2047” vision.

The goal is ambitious transforming Gujarat into a $3.5 trillion economy within the next two decades. To achieve this, the state is prioritizing emerging and high-growth sectors such as:

  • Semiconductor manufacturing
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) innovation
  • Green energy and sustainable industries
  • Financial technology through GIFT City

He also highlighted the establishment of semiconductor plants in Sanand, signaling Gujarat’s growing role in the global supply chain.

FICCI President Anant Goenka described Ahmedabad as a strategic and symbolic choice for launching the centenary celebrations. He praised Gujarat’s business-friendly policies and its ability to create synergy between governance and private enterprise.
