BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha industrial projects pipeline has received a boost after the Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) approved land allotment proposals for 37 projects across the state.

The approved proposals include 24 large industrial projects and 13 projects from the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) sector, according to reports.

The approvals are expected to help projects move from land allocation towards implementation while supporting industrial activity, employment and supply-chain development in different parts of Odisha.

Odisha Industrial Projects Get Land Allotment Approval

The land allotment proposals were considered after field inspections of industrial areas and strategic industrial corridors in Khurda, Cuttack and Kalinganagar.

IDCO Chairperson Usha Padhee, who is also Additional Chief Secretary of the Housing and Urban Development Department, reviewed the locations during the inspections.

She later chaired the meeting of IDCO’s Land Allotment Committee, which cleared the 37 proposals.

The approvals cover both large industrial investments and MSME projects, creating scope for industrial activity across different segments of the state’s economy.

IDCO Reviews Infrastructure Before Industrial Development

During the field inspections, officials examined whether the identified industrial locations have the infrastructure required for upcoming projects.

The assessment included land development and master planning as well as the availability of essential services such as power and water.

Officials also reviewed roads, connectivity and logistics infrastructure, which are important for moving raw materials and finished products.

The inspections were aimed at ensuring that industrial sites are adequately prepared before projects enter the implementation stage.

Odisha Seeks Faster Industrial Project Execution

The latest land approvals are part of IDCO’s efforts to simplify land-related clearances and make the process more predictable for investors.

The corporation is also working to reduce the gap between administrative approval and actual project execution. Better coordination between land allocation and infrastructure development can help projects avoid unnecessary delays.

Faster movement from approval to implementation could help industries begin operations sooner and create associated economic activity.

Worker Facilities Included in Infrastructure Review

IDCO’s infrastructure assessment is also considering facilities needed by workers in industrial areas.

Officials are examining worker amenities, including safe and accessible infrastructure for women employees.

The approach indicates that industrial development is being considered alongside the infrastructure needed to support the workforce.

The approval of 37 land allotments, combined with infrastructure reviews in key industrial locations, marks another step towards preparing Odisha’s industrial sites for investment, production and employment.
