Sambalpur: The Nuakhai 2026 Lagna has been fixed in Sambalpur for September 15, marking the auspicious beginning of preparations for Western Odisha’s biggest agrarian festival. The sacred muhurat will be observed from 9:40 AM to 9:54 AM.

The decision was taken at a Pandit Mahasabha organised by the Brahmapura Trust in Sambalpur. Vedic scholars finalised the auspicious time after chanting Vishnu Sahasranama and holding detailed deliberations.

During the fixed Lagna, the new crop or Nabanna will be offered to Maa Samaleswari at the Samaleswari Temple.

Nuakhai 2026 Lagna Fixed in Sambalpur

According to the decision taken at the Pandit Mahasabha, the Nuakhai Lagna will be observed on September 15 between 9:40 AM and 9:54 AM.

The new rice harvested from the season will be offered to Maa Samaleswari during this auspicious period. The ritual at the Samaleswari Peetha holds special importance in the traditional observance of Nuakhai.

After the offering, people will begin their own Nuakhai celebrations and partake in the new rice as part of the festival tradition.

Pandits Finalise Auspicious Nuakhai Muhurat

Several Vedic scholars presented different proposed Lagnas during the Pandit Mahasabha.

After discussions, the scholars selected the most suitable time while considering the convenience of devotees and the arrangements of the Samaleswari Temple Committee.

The finalised Lagna will now serve as the auspicious time for the traditional Nabanna offering at the Samaleswari Peetha.

Nuakhai Preparations Begin Across Western Odisha

The Brahmapura Trust will send the official Lagna Patra to the Maa Samaleswari Temple in Sambalpur.

The invitation will also be sent to the Jagannath Temple in Puri, inviting Lord Jagannath to the Nuakhai festival as part of the traditional proceedings.

With the Lagna now finalised, preparations for Nuakhai 2026 have gained momentum in Sambalpur and other parts of Western Odisha.

The festival holds deep cultural and agricultural significance for the region, bringing families and communities together to celebrate the new harvest.
