IMD Issues Thunderstorm and Lightning Alert for Several Districts in Odisha

The Regional Centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar has issued thunderstorm and lightning warnings for multiple districts across Odisha.

According to the IMD, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, strong winds (40–50 kmph), and heavy rain are likely in isolated areas of Nabarangpur, Koraput, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Sundargarh. A yellow warning has been issued for these areas, valid until 8:30 AM tomorrow.

Additionally, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds ranging from 30–40 kmph are expected in parts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Kendrapada, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, and Kandhamal.

The IMD further noted that similar weather conditions are likely to prevail in Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and Bhadrak districts from 8:30 AM on June 1 to 8:30 AM on June 2.
