IND vs AUS 4th Test Day 4 : Virat Kohli makes 186, India 91run Lead

IND vs AUS 4th Test Day 4: Virat Kohli 186(364) made a brilliant hundred as India took a 91 run lead against Australia after being bowled out for 571 in their first innings in the 4th Test at Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday.

If Shubman Gayle made headlines with his brilliant 128 runs on Saturday, now it was Kohli’s turn to step into the limelight to break his 1,025-day Test century.

He was also supported by 44 runs from KS Bharat and an excellent 79 from Axar Patel. For Australia, Nathan Lyon and Todd Murphy took three wickets each, while Mitchell Starc and Matthew Kuhnemann scalped each.

With 3.3 overs to go in the final session, Axar dropped Todd Murphy’s four to give India the lead. When Cameron Green was brought back into the attack, Kohli quickly took a cover drive and delivered it outside the stumps.

Axor reached 50 off 95 balls with a single from Murphy and attacked Matthew Koenman with a huge six over mid-wicket. He then stepped aside to sweep Murphy over mid-wicket for 4, then twice bowled Koonman for a six.

Axar’s innings ended when he tried to get away from Mitchell Starc, but it went into his off-stump. He took the third wicket of the match. In the next over, Umesh Yadav was dismissed by a direct hit by Peter Handscomb off the line at the non-striker’s end.

Cori was dismissed for 185 when Handscombe tried to take it with both hands while diving, but missed the chance. In the next over, Murphy bowled outside the stumps and Kohli went for a slog sweep, but Iyer ended India’s innings when he was unable to bat due to back pain that required a scan.

IND vs AUS 4th Test Day 4 Scores: Australia 480 in 167.2 overs. India 571 in 178.5 overs (Virat Kohli 186, Shubman Gill 128; Todd Murphy 3/113, Nathan Lyon 3/151) by 91 runs
