India Resumes Tourist Visas for Chinese Nationals After 5-Year Suspension
New Delhi: In a significant diplomatic and travel development, India has resumed issuing tourist visas to Chinese nationals starting today, ending a five-year suspension on such travel documents.
Online Application and In-Person Submission Required
As per an official statement from the Indian Embassy in Beijing, Chinese citizens can now apply for tourist visas online. After completing the digital application, they must schedule an appointment and personally submit their passport and required documents at the Indian Visa Application Centres located in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou.

Comes After Kailash Mansarovar Yatra Resumption
This move follows closely on the heels of the resumption of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra on June 30, signaling a thaw in people-to-people contact between the two nations.
Strengthening Bilateral Engagement
The reintroduction of tourist visas is being seen as part of broader efforts to revive travel, tourism, and cultural exchange between India and China, which had been severely impacted by geopolitical tensions and the COVID-19 pandemic.
