Indian equities staged a strong recovery today, closing higher after four consecutive sessions of losses. The uptrend was driven by easing retail inflation in June 2025 and positive cues from global markets, including a strong overnight performance in the U.S. and gains across Asian markets.
The benchmark BSE Sensex ended the day at 82,571, rising by 317 points or 0.39%, while the NSE Nifty50 gained 114 points or 0.45% to settle at 25,196.
Broader Market Ends in the Green
Broader indices mirrored the positive sentiment, with the BSE Mid-Cap index gaining 0.83% and the Small-Cap index climbing 0.95% by the close of trade.

Out of the 30 Sensex stocks, 22 ended in the green.

- Sun Pharma surged 2.71%
- Bajaj Finserv rose 1.69%
- Tata Motors added 1.55%

- HCL Tech dropped 3.31%
- Eternal lost 1.57%
- Tata Steel fell 0.81%
Sectoral Performance Remains Largely Positive
Among the sectoral indices on the BSE, all but one sector closed in the green.
- Auto Sector: up 1.48%
- Healthcare: up 1.14%
- Consumer Discretionary: up 0.89%
- Utilities: was the only laggard, falling 0.15%
Market breadth at the BSE remained positive, with 2,576 stocks advancing, 1,479 declining, and 160 remaining unchanged.
At the NSE, 85 stocks hit their 52-week high, while 21 touched their 52-week low, reflecting growing investor confidence.
