Indian Red Cross Society Organizes CPR Awareness Programme at 82 BN CRPF Srinagar

Published on

The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Jammu & Kashmir branch, organized a comprehensive awareness programme on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for personnel of the 82nd Battalion, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) at their Srinagar camp today. The event aimed to equip CRPF personnel with vital life-saving skills to enhance their emergency response capabilities in high-risk environments.

The programme was presided over by G.A. Qureshi, Honorary Treasurer of IRCS-J&K, and Munir Khan, Deputy Commandant of 82 BN CRPF, Srinagar. Speaking on the occasion, Qureshi highlighted IRCS’s mission to empower citizens and frontline workers with first aid skills, saying, “In critical moments, timely CPR can make the difference between life and death. Such initiatives bridge the gap in emergency response across Jammu and Kashmir.”

The training session was led by Dr. Shalindra Kour, a certified First Aid Trainer. She conducted hands-on demonstrations of CPR techniques including chest compressions and rescue breaths. Participants actively practiced these methods using mannequins and engaged in interactive drills simulating real-life emergencies such as cardiac arrest and trauma response.

The awareness programme aligns with the broader mission of the Indian Red Cross Society, which functions as an auxiliary to the state authorities in areas such as disaster management, health education, and humanitarian assistance. By training CRPF personnel who often operate in challenging terrains, IRCS aims to strengthen a network of skilled first responders capable of immediate intervention during emergencies.

The initiative underscores the importance of preparedness, compassion, and quick action, helping build a more resilient and responsive security force that can protect lives both in service and within communities.
