International Yoga Day 2023: Every year on June 21, the world celebrates International Yoga Day. It’s a platform for spreading the word about yoga’s myriad advantages and promoting its comprehensive approach to physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi established the concept of International Yoga Day in his 2014 address to the United Nations General Assembly. Yoga has grown in popularity worldwide since then, owing to its capacity to improve flexibility, strength, balance, and overall fitness.

This year’s Yoga Day theme is ‘Yoga For Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,’ which translates to “Yoga for the Welfare of All” in the form of “One World-One Family.” It highlights the spirit of Yoga, which unifies and guides everyone. Yoga programmes will be held in every corner of the country, as they have been in the past. Yoga is good not just for mental health issues, but also for overall well-being.

Prime Minister Modi addressed the United Nations General Assembly in 2014, proposing that June 21 be designated as International Yoga Day. His initiative was widely supported, and the United Nations recognised June 21 to be the International Day of Yoga on December 11, 2014. This historic accomplishment demonstrated India’s dedication to sharing the understanding of yoga and its ability to transform lives.

Benefits of Yoga

Yoga has demonstrated amazing effectiveness in lowering anxiety and depression symptoms following the pandemic. It aids in emotional management, mood improvement, and brain clarity, as well as highlighting the link between the mind and the body.

Every year on June 21, the world celebrates International Yoga Day. It gives a forum for people from many cultures and communities to come together to appreciate and practise yoga. This day provides an opportunity to raise awareness of the emotional, physical, and spiritual advantages of yoga through a variety of programmes. Yoga courses, workshops, presentations, and cultural performances are among the programming offered.

Yoga is good for your physical, mental, and emotional health. It improves your flexibility, strength, and balance.
