Iranian Foreign Minister to Meet President Putin in Moscow Following US Strikes

Published on

Tehran/Istanbul: Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has announced that he will travel to Moscow later today to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin tomorrow morning. The high-level visit follows the US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, which have heightened tensions in the region.

Statement Made During Istanbul Conference

Araghchi shared the update during a press briefing in Istanbul, Turkiye, in response to a question from a Russian journalist. The announcement came on Sunday, just hours after the US deployed B-2 stealth bombers to strike multiple Iranian nuclear sites, escalating the Iran-US standoff.

Iran and Russia Maintain Strategic Coordination

Speaking on Tehran-Moscow ties, Araghchi reaffirmed the strategic partnership between Iran and Russia, noting that both countries frequently consult and coordinate their diplomatic positions on regional and international issues. The meeting with Putin is expected to focus on the evolving Middle East crisis and broader geopolitical cooperation.
