RANCHI: The Jharkhand JPSC protest intensified on Wednesday as students demonstrating against the alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) examinations announced plans to lay siege to the Jharkhand Assembly during the Monsoon Session.

The protest, being held at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium in Ranchi, has gathered momentum, with students vowing to continue their agitation until their demands are addressed.

Students Demand Judicial Probe Into JPSC, JSSC Exams

The agitating students clarified that their movement is not aimed at seeking the resignation of any individual. Instead, they are demanding:

  • Cancellation of the allegedly tainted JPSC and JSSC examinations.
  • A judicial inquiry led by retired High Court judges from outside Jharkhand.
  • A transparent investigation into the alleged examination irregularities.

The protesters also rejected the ongoing CID investigation, describing it as inadequate to uncover the full extent of the alleged malpractice.

Protesters Claim Movement Is Non-Political

Students participating in the agitation said the protest is being conducted without any political backing or financial support.

According to the protesters, food and refreshments for demonstrators are being voluntarily provided by local temples and various social organisations.

CID Arrests Three More Accused

Following the announcement of the proposed Assembly gherao, the Crime Investigation Department (CID) intensified its investigation into the alleged examination irregularities.

Officials arrested three more individuals in connection with the case and produced them before a court, which remanded them to judicial custody.

The Jharkhand Monsoon Session is scheduled to begin on Thursday, with security expected to be tightened around the Assembly in view of the planned protest.
