Mumbai: The Kohrra Season 2 release date has officially been confirmed, with the acclaimed crime drama set to return on Netflix on February 11. The series, which debuted in 2023 to critical acclaim, is once again created and written by Gunjit Chopra, Diggi Sisodia and Sudip Sharma.

The new season promises a darker, more layered investigation rooted in Punjab’s stark and wintry backdrop.

New Directors, Fresh Case in Kohrra Season 2

While the first season was directed by Randeep Jha, Season 2 sees Sudip Sharma step into the director’s chair alongside Faisal Rahman. According to the makers, the upcoming season introduces a new crime and a fresh investigative dynamic.

A press note described the season as being “rooted once again in Punjab’s bleak, wintry terrain where silence often speaks louder than a confession.”

Barun Sobti Returns, Mona Singh Joins Cast

Barun Sobti reprises his role as police officer Amarpal Garundi. However, unlike Season 1—where his character worked under Balbir Singh, played by Suvinder Vicky his new commanding officer will be Dhanwant Kaur, portrayed by Mona Singh.

The new pairing is expected to add a different emotional and professional dynamic to the investigation.

Creators Promise Authentic Storytelling

Speaking about the new season, Sudip Sharma said returning to Kohrra was creatively exciting. He noted that while Season 1 explored quiet tensions between people and time, Season 2 continues the commitment to authenticity.

He added that the characters remain deeply rooted in Punjab, while reflecting realities familiar across the country.

Netflix Calls Kohrra a Cult Classic

Tanya Bami, Series Head at Netflix India, described Kohrra as a “cult-classic” that earned widespread acclaim from audiences and critics alike. She said Season 2, set in a new city with a new crime and partnership, would be even more gripping as layers of the story unfold episode by episode.
