LIVE: PM Modi Addresses Nation For First Time Since Operation Sindoor

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation at 8pm this evening. Mr. Modi’s address comes in the wake of Operation Sindoor, which was launched by India after the barbaric terrorist attack in Pahalgam in which 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen were killed.

In the retaliatory action India destroyed multiple terror and military locations across Pakistan and killed over 100 terrorists.

Earlier this afternoon, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting at his residence in New Delhi. Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Chiefs of the three Armed Forces, and several senior officials attened the meeting.

Salute The Soldiers On Behalf Of Every Indian, Says PM Modi

For the first time since Operation Sindoor began, Prime Minister Modi stated: “During Operation Sindoor, our forces showed incredible bravery. I applaud the Indian agencies, scientists, and military. It demonstrates the patience and strength of the nation. The resilience and potential of the nation were observed. I want to start by praising the military, paramilitary, and intelligence services. On behalf of all Indians, I salute the soldiers.

Today Every Terrorist Knows What We Can Do, Says PM Modi On Operation Sindoor

Regarding the terror attack in Pahalgam, Prime Minister Modi stated: “Pahalgam demonstrated the brutal side of terrorism. Civilians were ruthlessly murdered on April 22. The terrorists executed them in front of children after questioning them about their faith. It had a significant impact on me personally. The country as a whole desired vigorous action against terrorism following this tragedy.

“We gave the armed forces complete freedom to kill the terrorists,” he continued. Every terrorist group has now realized what will happen if they attempt to take Sindoor away from India’s daughters and sisters.

Terrorists Wiped Off Sindoor Of Our Sisters, We Wiped Off Their Bases, Says PM Modi

Bhawalpur and Muridke are global universities of terror, PM Modi said, referring to the sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir that were targeted by the Indian forces last week.

“The forces launched precision strikes. No one imagined the scale of our action. Our missiles and drones have shaken the terrorists. The world saw our pledge turn into reality,” he said.

“On the intervening night of May 6 and 7, the entire world saw this resolution being turned into action. We struck their training centres. They never thought in their dreams that India would strike them. When Indian missiles and drones hit Pakistan, the foundation of terrorist groups was shaken. Like 9/11, the London Tube Bombing or terror attacks in India, all these attacks are linked to the two sites in some way or another. They wiped off the sindoor of our sister, that’s why we wiped off their centres. We killed 100 terrorists,” he added.

India Inflicted Unimaginable Damage On Pakistan In 3 Days, Says PM Modi

PM Modi continued: “Pakistan targeted our schools, colleges, places of worship, our military bases and civilian homes. This unmasked Pakistan. Over 100 terrorists were killed in attacks. Many terror bosses ran free in Pakistan. Pakistan drowned in frustration. Instead of helping India against terror, Pakistan attacked us. We took the fight to the heart of Pakistan. We inflicted unimaginable damage on Pakistan in three days.”

Pakistan Went Around The World Seeking Help After India’s Attacks, Says PM Modi

According to PM Modi, Pakistan pleaded with the world to figure out how to maintain regional peace. “They were proud of their air bases, which we attacked with pinpoint strikes. These bases were severely damaged by us. After being severely damaged, Pakistan sought assistance from all around the world in an attempt to save its reputation.

“As a result, they (Pakistan) contacted our DGMO on the afternoon of May 10,” he continued. By then, we had hit their terror bases and destroyed their infrastructure. We took into consideration Pakistan’s proposition after they begged for assistance and declared that they would not permit terrorist or military assaults on India from their territory. We will closely monitor their actions while the operation is paused.

India Won’t See Terrorists, Government Separately: PM Modi To Pakistan

The Indian armed forces are on high-alert, PM Narendra Modi said. “After the surgical strikes and Balakot, Operation Sindoor is a testament to India’s policy-action against terrorism. This operation has set a new-normal against terrorism. If any attack happens on India, we will respond according to our own terms and strike the roots of terrorism,” he said.

No nuclear blackmail will work against India, he said, adding that the country will take strict action against nuclear blackmail.

“We will not see terrorists and the government separately. The world has seen how the Pakistani army officers attended the funeral of terrorists. This is a big evidence of state-sponsored terrorism. We will take strong steps to protect India. Operation Sindoor has written history. We displayed our strength in the desert, mountain and showed your potential in the new-age warfare,” he said.

India Has Shown Its Strength In Last Couple Of Days, Says PM Modi

“Today is Buddha Purnima, and Lord Buddha has shown us the path to peace but it goes through the path of shakti (power). In the last couple of days, we have shown our strength… I want to salute the armed forces,” PM Modi said.

During his address to the nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi says, “…If there will be talks between India and Pakistan, it will only be on terrorism and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK)…India’s stand has been clear, terror, trade and talks cannot be done together.”
