Massive Fire Erupts at Bhubaneswar Unit 1 Haat, Over 40 Shops Destroyed

Published on

A massive fire broke out at the Bhubaneswar Unit 1 haat on Wednesday evening, gutting several shops and warehouses. According to reports, around 40 to 50 shops were destroyed as flames spread rapidly through the crowded marketplace.

The fire intensified quickly due to tents and tarpaulin sheets covering the shops, which acted as fuel. Eyewitnesses reported heavy smoke and panic as traders tried to save their goods before the fire engulfed nearby stalls.

Firefighters rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control. Eight fire engines were deployed, and teams worked tirelessly to douse the flames. Assistant Fire Officer Binod Raut confirmed that the fire was brought under control after several hours of effort.

Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the Bhubaneswar Unit 1 Haat fire. Preliminary estimates suggest that goods worth ₹20–25 lakh have been gutted. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported so far.

Locals and traders have urged the civic authorities to improve fire safety measures in crowded markets to prevent such incidents in the future.
