Mayurbhanj Named Best Performing District Under Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan
BARIPADA: The Mayurbhanj district has been honoured with the prestigious title of ‘Best Performing District’ under the Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs. The award was presented by President Droupadi Murmu to District Collector Hemakanta Say at a ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on Friday.

The Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan was launched with the transformative vision of making every tribal village self-reliant and ensuring that the benefits of development reach all tribal regions. The programme emphasises participatory governance by involving tribal communities directly in the process of nation-building and sustainable growth.
A Vision for Empowerment and Self-Reliance
The initiative operates under three key categories that focus on leadership, training, and implementation at the grassroots level. Officials are trained and deployed to work closely with tribal communities to understand their literature, culture, traditions, lifestyle, and local development needs. This localised approach enables policymakers to design inclusive strategies that resonate with community priorities.
Collector Highlights Holistic Approach to Tribal Development
Expressing his gratitude after receiving the award, District Collector Hemakanta Say said that the programme covers 1,363 tribal villages across 26 blocks in Mayurbhanj. It engages 33 master trainers who conduct block-level training sessions for government officials and community workers. “Our goal is to ensure holistic development through a comprehensive action plan for Vision 2030. We are striving for 100 per cent implementation of all government schemes so that their benefits reach people seamlessly,” he said.

Through the Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan, Mayurbhanj is setting a benchmark for effective tribal governance and inclusive growth in India. The district’s achievement reflects the collective effort of officials, local leaders, and community members working together toward empowerment, sustainability, and self-reliance.
