Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar Plane Crash: On Wednesday morning, an airplane carrying Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and five other people crashed in the Pune district, killed them. According to officials, the incident happened while a Learjet 45 operated by VSR (registered VT-SSK) was landing in the Baramati region of Pune.

According to preliminary reports, the plane crashed landed during the descent after losing control during the landing at the Baramati airport.

When the accident occurred, the Learjet 45 was carrying five passengers, including Ajit Pawar, two additional staff members (a PSO and an attendant), and two crew members (the pilot in command and the first officer).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and obtained information and updates regarding the jet disaster, according to a statement from the Maharashtra government.

Ajit Pawar was the cousin of Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule and the nephew of seasoned politician and NCP founder Sharad Pawar.

The Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister with the longest non-consecutive tenure was Ajit Pawar. He held the role for six periods in different administrations. In the governments of Prithviraj Chavan, Devendra Fadnavis, Uddhav Thackeray, and Eknath Shinde, he served as deputy chief minister. Jay and Parth Pawar are his two sons from his marriage to Sunetra Pawar.
