Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has instructed officials to expedite the submission of OAS, ORS disciplinary investigation reports in pending cases involving alleged misconduct by officers. The directive aims to speed up disciplinary action that has been delayed despite earlier deadlines.

The order was issued by Arabinda K Padhee from the Revenue and Disaster Management Department Odisha.

Authorities have been told to submit all pending investigation reports by March 31, 2026.

In a letter addressed to senior district officials, the Additional Chief Secretary asked investigation officers to prioritise pending cases.

The communication was sent to:

Additional District Magistrates
Chief Development and Executive Officers of District Councils
Offices under the Revenue Divisional Commissioners (RDC)
These include districts such as Puri, Sambalpur, Subarnapur, and Kandhamal.

The data suggests the government is attempting to clear a backlog of disciplinary cases involving officers from the Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) junior category and Odisha Revenue Service (ORS).

Earlier 90 Day Deadline Was Not Followed

Earlier government instructions required investigating officers to submit reports within 90 days of their appointment.

However, officials noted that several cases remain pending, causing delays in disciplinary action against the concerned officers.

What the administration is now emphasizing is accountability in the investigation process itself.

District Collectors across the state have been instructed to regularly review pending cases and ensure compliance with the government’s directive.
