BHUBANESWAR: The OT&AS officer dismissed case has resulted in swift administrative action after Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi ordered the removal of newly appointed Odisha Taxation and Accounts Service (OT&AS) officer Bhimsen Tudu from government service. The decision followed his arrest in connection with a criminal case and subsequent judicial custody.

Officials said the dismissal was carried out under applicable service rules, which permit action against a government employee who remains in custody for more than 48 hours.

OT&AS Officer Dismissed Under Service Rules

According to officials, Bhimsen Tudu had recently joined the Odisha Taxation and Accounts Service and was undergoing induction training at the Madhusudan Das Regional Academy of Financial Management.

Officials said:

  • Tudu went missing from the induction training programme on June 4, 2026.
  • He did not appear for the final examination conducted during the training.
  • Police later arrested him in connection with a death case registered at Barang Police Station.
  • Following his arrest, he was remanded to judicial custody.

Based on these developments, the Chief Minister directed his immediate dismissal from government service.

Why the OT&AS Officer Dismissed Case Matters

The action reflects the Odisha government’s emphasis on maintaining integrity and accountability in public service. Administrative authorities acted after the officer remained in judicial custody beyond the period specified under service regulations.

The second-order impact of the decision is likely to reinforce stricter scrutiny of government employees facing serious criminal allegations and underline the importance of ethical conduct among newly recruited civil servants.

Officials further stated that following the dismissal, Bhimsen Tudu will not be eligible for future employment under the Odisha government. The case also highlights the government’s stated policy of taking prompt disciplinary action in matters involving public servants and criminal proceedings.
