The warning covers two forecast periods, with some districts expected to experience winds of up to 40-50 kmph during the first period.
Day 1: Warning valid until October 9 morning
For Day 1, valid until 8:30 am on October 9, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface winds reaching 40-50 kmph are very likely at one or two places in:
- Sambalpur
- Deogarh
- Angul
- Dhenkanal
- Keonjhar
- Mayurbhanj
- Boudh
- Kandhamal
- Nabarangpur
- Rayagada
- Koraput
- Malkangiri
The IMD has also forecast thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface winds reaching 30-40 kmph at one or two places in:
- Balasore
- Bhadrak
- Jajpur
- Kendrapada
- Jagatsinghpur
- Cuttack
- Gajapati
- Ganjam
- Puri
- Khordha
- Nayagarh
These districts have been placed under a yellow alert for the period.
Day 2: Warning from October 9 to October 10
For Day 2, valid from 8:30 am on October 9 to 8:30 am on October 10, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface winds reaching 30-40 kmph are very likely at one or two places in:
- Balasore
- Bhadrak
- Jajpur
- Kendrapada
- Jagatsinghpur
- Cuttack
- Keonjhar
- Mayurbhanj
- Gajapati
- Ganjam
- Puri
- Khordha
- Nayagarh
The IMD has issued a yellow warning for these districts during the second forecast period.
