Bhubaneswar: On the occasion of the state government’s first anniversary, the Women and Child Welfare Department organized the State-Level Nari Shakti Samabesh at Bali Jatra Ground in Cuttack.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, the chief guest, emphasized that women’s empowerment is central to Odisha’s development.
Highlighting the Subhadra Yojana, CM Majhi announced that over 16 lakh women have become “Lakshapati Didis” — a term used for women who have crossed ₹1 lakh income threshold — due to the scheme’s success in enabling financial self-reliance.
Odisha Leads Nation in Women Empowerment
CM Majhi credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Lakshapati Didi’ vision for transforming rural women into financially independent entrepreneurs. He proudly stated that Odisha now ranks first in India in creating Lakshapati Didis and has facilitated business worth ₹3,695 crore for self-help groups (SHGs).
₹300 Crore Interest Refunded to SHGs
The state government has refunded ₹300 crore in loan interest to over 3.07 lakh SHGs, removing financial burdens and helping women move closer to their economic goals.
Majhi reiterated that this is part of a broader mission to build a prosperous Odisha through empowered mothers and daughters.
Sampurna Pushti Yojana for Nutrition and Health
The CM also spotlighted the Mukhyamantri Sampurna Pushti Yojana (MSPY), which focuses on providing nutritious food to women and children, ensuring a healthy and strong future generation.
Coffee Table Book Released, Women Felicitated
The event featured the launch of a coffee table book detailing Odisha’s achievements in women-centric development and included the felicitation of women achievers for their exemplary work in various fields.
Deputy Chief Ministers Kanak Bardhan Singh Deo and Parvati Parida urged citizens to commit to building a developed, proud, and self-reliant Odisha.
₹89,861 Crore Budget Allocation for Women’s Welfare
In a powerful closing note, CM Majhi reassured that the government is firmly committed to women’s empowerment, with a massive ₹89,861 crore allocated in the budget for women-focused schemes and programs.
He expressed confidence that Odisha would serve as a model for other states in the journey of gender equality and empowerment.
