Prime Minister Narendra Modi has credited the Operation Sindoor success to cutting-edge technology and the Make in India initiative in defence production. Speaking at an event in Bengaluru, he said the world had witnessed the new face of New India as the armed forces destroyed terrorist hideouts deep across the border and forced Pakistan to retreat within hours.
Calling for greater self-reliance in technology, the Prime Minister emphasised “Zero Defect, Zero Effect” manufacturing standards. He urged Bengaluru, already a global IT hub, to lead the charge in emerging technologies and manufacturing to achieve the vision of Viksit Bharat.
Bengaluru: Symbol of New India’s Rise
Mr Modi described Bengaluru as a symbol of New India’s rise, where philosophical heritage meets technological prowess. He praised Karnataka’s talent, especially the city’s youth, for driving progress in IT, defence manufacturing, and other industries.
Highlighting India’s rapid infrastructure growth, he noted metro networks in 24 cities, a doubling of airports since 2014, electrification of over 40,000 km of railway routes, and booming exports in electronics, automobiles, and mobile phones.
Metro and Vande Bharat Boost for Karnataka
The Prime Minister’s remarks followed the inauguration of the Yellow Line of the Bangalore Metro, worth ₹7,160 crore, and the laying of the foundation stone for Phase-3, worth ₹15,610 crore. The 19-km Yellow Line connects RV Road (Ragigudda) to Bommasandra, with 16 stations, expanding Bengaluru’s metro network to over 96 km. Phase-3 will add 44 km of elevated track and 31 stations, easing congestion in residential, industrial, and educational hubs.
Mr Modi also flagged off three Vande Bharat Express trains – Bengaluru to Belagavi, Amritsar to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, and Nagpur (Ajni) to Pune – promising faster travel and enhanced connectivity. He said the Bengaluru-Belagavi route would boost trade and tourism in north Karnataka.
