During his address, Modi said the world had witnessed the capability and credibility of India’s defence sector through Operation Sindoor.

He noted that precision strikes targeted terrorist hideouts across the border and said their impact resonated globally. Interacting with the audience, the Prime Minister asked whether they felt proud of the action taken against terrorist camps, drawing applause from those present.

The remarks formed part of his broader message on India’s growing strategic and defence capabilities.

Operation Sindoor Launched After Pahalgam Terror Attack

India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians.

Under the operation, the Indian Armed Forces carried out precision missile strikes on nine terror infrastructure sites located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). According to official statements, the operation targeted facilities linked to terrorist organisations.

The military action was followed by four days of heightened military exchanges between India and Pakistan before both sides reached an understanding to halt military operations on May 10.

Operation Remained a Key National Security Milestone

Operation Sindoor has remained a significant reference point in India’s national security and counter-terrorism policy.

During his Australia address, Prime Minister Modi presented the operation as an example of India’s evolving defence capability and its willingness to respond decisively to cross-border terrorism. His remarks also underscored the government’s emphasis on strengthening indigenous defence capacity while maintaining a firm stance against terrorism.
