President Droupadi Murmu Begins Two-Day Visit to Odisha

Bhubaneswar: President Droupadi Murmu has commenced her two-day official visit to Odisha today, arriving at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar. Her visit began with her participation as the Chief Guest at the 5th Convocation Ceremony of AIIMS Bhubaneswar, where she addressed the gathering and conferred degrees upon graduating students.

AIIMS Bhubaneswar Hosts Prestigious 5th Convocation Ceremony

Established in 2003 by the visionary leader and former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, AIIMS Bhubaneswar has emerged as a premier institution in medical education and research.

At the convocation, President Murmu awarded 59 gold medals to 31 meritorious students and conferred degrees on 643 healthcare graduates. The ceremony was also graced by Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and several other distinguished guests.

The event was marked by enthusiasm and pride, as students and faculty warmly welcomed the President — a native of Odisha — to their campus.

Second Day: Convocation at Ravenshaw University and Cultural Celebrations in Cuttack

On the second day of her Odisha visit, President Murmu will attend the 13th annual convocation of Ravenshaw University in Cuttack. She is also set to lay the foundation stone for the redevelopment of three key buildings at Ravenshaw Girls’ High School.

In addition to academic events, she will commemorate the birth anniversary of 15th-century Odia poet and scholar Adikabi Sarala Das, and present the Kalinga Ratna Award 2024 during a special ceremony.

Security Tightened in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack

In light of the President’s visit, extensive security measures have been deployed in both Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. The arrangements aim to ensure a smooth and secure schedule as President Murmu engages in a series of ceremonial and cultural events across the state.
