Prime Minister Narendra Modi Begins Three-Nation Tour with Cyprus Visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Cyprus on the first stop of his three-nation tour and was received with full honours by President Nikos Christodoulides at Larnaka International Airport. He then proceeded to Lemesos, where members of the Indian community and local Cypriots gave him a rousing welcome.

Business Roundtable to Strengthen Economic Ties

Later today, PM Modi and President Christodoulides will participate in a business roundtable involving Indian and Cypriot entrepreneurs. The focus will be on exploring trade, investment, and business collaboration opportunities between the two countries.

Bilateral Talks in Nicosia on Strategic and Regional Issues

On the second day of the visit, PM Modi will hold formal bilateral discussions with the Cypriot President in Nicosia. The agenda includes education, digital cooperation, regional security, and India-EU ties, with a spotlight on the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC).

Symbolic Visit to UN Ceasefire Line Highlights India’s Peacekeeping Role

As a special highlight, both leaders will jointly visit the Nicosia Town Hall followed by a guided tour of the United Nations ceasefire line. This symbolic act reflects India’s historic role in UN peacekeeping in Cyprus.

Official Lunch and Departure to Canada for G7 Summit

The visit will conclude with an official lunch at the Presidential Palace, after which PM Modi will depart for Canada to participate in the G7 Summit. The Cyprus visit is expected to further deepen strategic, cultural, and economic ties between the two democracies.
