Rahul Gandhi Launches Bihar Campaign, Accuses PM Modi of Doing “Anything for Votes”

Published on

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government came under sharp attack from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday as he officially commenced his election campaign in Bihar. At a rally in Muzaffarpur, Gandhi accused Modi of seeking votes through dramatic theatrics and alleged that the ruling party is orchestrating governance in Bihar behind the scenes.

Rahul Gandhi’s Claim on Modi’s Approach to Votes

Addressing a crowd in Muzaffarpur, Rahul Gandhi said that Modi’s main objective is gaining your vote. “If you ask him to dance on stage for votes, he will start performing Bharatanatyam,” the Congress leader declared, pointing to what he described as a political show by the Prime Minister ahead of the upcoming Bihar election campaign.

“Vote Chori” and the Allegation of Manipulated Elections by the BJP

Gandhi also accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party of engineering vote theft — or “vote chori” — in states like Maharashtra and Haryana and warned that Bihar will be no different. He claimed the BJP, together with the state government led by Nitish Kumar, are sidelining democracy in favour of power consolidation during the Bihar election campaign.

Mocking the Chhath-Puja Yamuna Drama

Gandhi also mocked the Prime Minister’s Chhath Puja appearance at the Yamuna riverbank in Delhi, calling it a staged affair. “The Yamuna has dirty water. But they built a small pond with clean water flowing through a hidden pipe — all for show,” he asserted, using the example to illustrate Modi’s alleged misuse of symbolism for electoral advantage.

Demonetisation, GST and the Call for ‘Made in Bihar’

In his speech, Rahul Gandhi slammed Modi’s economic policies, including demonetisation and GST, accusing them of dismantling small businesses. Highlighting the slogan ‘Made in China’ on many products, he said, “It should instead say ‘Made in Bihar’ — so that local youth get jobs.” He pledged to turn Bihar into a manufacturing hub under the opposition alliance.
