In its official notification, the Railway Board also confirmed that the revised rates will apply not only to Rail Neer but also to other IRCTC-approved packaged drinking water brands sold at railway premises and in trains.

Rail Neer: A Signature IRCTC Product

Rail Neer is the branded packaged drinking water of the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). It was first launched in 2003, with the first plant set up in Nangloi, West Delhi.

The purpose was to provide safe and hygienic drinking water to passengers, especially on premium trains such as Rajdhani Express and Shatabdi Express originating from New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin.

Today, Rail Neer is a widely recognized product, distributed through IRCTC’s plants and partners across India.

Passenger-Friendly Move by Indian Railways

This price cut is part of the Indian Railways’ ongoing efforts to enhance passenger amenities while keeping travel affordable. By reducing Rail Neer rates, IRCTC ensures that passengers continue to receive safe, quality water at controlled prices instead of relying on unregulated vendors.

The Railway Board has instructed all officials to ensure strict compliance with the revised prices starting September 22, 2025.
