Railway Minister Announces 12,000 Special Trains for Bihar During Diwali and Chhath

Published on

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Wednesday announced that more than 12,000 trains will be operated for Bihar during the upcoming Diwali and Chhath festivals. He said the move aims to ensure smooth travel for people of the state heading to destinations across the country.

The Minister added that the Railway Ministry has designed several initiatives following detailed discussions with Bihar NDA leaders to address the travel requirements of passengers. Apart from special trains, new services and infrastructure projects are also being planned.

Launch of New Amrit Bharat and Vande Bharat Trains

Vaishnaw revealed that a new Amrit Bharat train will soon connect Delhi and Gaya, primarily catering to general class passengers. Additionally, a Vande Bharat train service between Purnia and Patna is set to be introduced shortly, benefiting passengers across different sections of society.

12,000 Special Trains for Bihar During Festivals

Highlighting the festive arrangements, the Minister announced that 12,000 special trains will run on various routes to handle the increased passenger rush during Diwali and Chhath. This announcement followed a high-level meeting with Bihar NDA leaders in Delhi to review railway preparations for the festive season.

Four More Amrit Bharat Trains to Boost Connectivity

The Railway Minister further disclosed that four additional Amrit Bharat trains will be introduced on key routes. These include Delhi–Gaya, Saharsa–Amritsar, Chhapra–Delhi, and Muzaffarpur–Hyderabad, designed to provide better connectivity and comfort for general class travelers.

Discount Scheme for Festival Travel

Vaishnaw also outlined a new experimental scheme for passengers traveling between October 13 and 26. Those returning between November 17 and December 1 will be eligible for confirmed tickets and a 20% discount on return fares, offering relief to festival travelers.
