Bhubaneswar: In a major digital push to streamline navigation and traffic during the upcoming Rath Yatra 2025, the Odisha Police has launched a WhatsApp ChatBot designed to assist visitors in and around Puri. The ChatBot will offer real-time traffic updates, parking directions, and navigation assistance using the live location of users.
This tech-enabled initiative is aimed at enhancing the devotee experience and maintaining smooth traffic flow, as the sacred city prepares to host millions of pilgrims for the grand chariot festival of Lord Jagannath.
What the WhatsApp ChatBot Offers:
According to ADG Traffic Dayal Gangawar, the ChatBot integrates advanced location-based services and AI to offer instant, user-friendly navigation support.
Key Features:
- Real-Time Location Integration: The ChatBot uses the visitor’s live location to direct them to the nearest geo-marked parking areas.
- Mapped Routes: Parking zones have been geo-tagged and routes digitally mapped for seamless access.
- QR Code Access: A special QR code has been released, enabling quick entry into the ChatBot system via WhatsApp.
- Regular Updates: Features will be continuously improved and updated based on public feedback and traffic needs.
Call for Public Cooperation
Odisha Police has appealed to all two-wheeler, four-wheeler, and bus drivers to make full use of the ChatBot. Visitors are also encouraged to cooperate with on-ground traffic personnel to ensure a smooth and safe experience during the festivities.
Technology for Crowd Management
The WhatsApp ChatBot is part of a larger technological framework adopted by the Odisha Police, which includes:
- CCTV surveillance across major routes
- AI-powered drones for real-time monitoring
- Digital signage and alerts at critical locations
These tools will significantly support crowd control, public safety, and emergency response during key events like Gundicha Yatra, Bahuda Yatra, and Suna Besha.
