Addressing a packed audience of athletes, dignitaries and cultural icons, Mrs Ambani highlighted how sport transcends boundaries and brings the country together. She said the celebration marked a special way to begin the New Year, with all three World Cup-winning Indian teams coming together under one roof to be recognised for their excellence, resilience and commitment to the nation.

World Cup-winning captains take centre stage

At the heart of the evening were India’s three victorious captains Rohit Sharma, Harmanpreet Kaur and Deepika TC. Their leadership journeys, marked by belief and determination, were celebrated as defining moments in India’s sporting history that continue to inspire millions across the country.

The star-studded night witnessed the presence of World Cup-winning players including Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues and Ganga Kadam. Cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar and Ravichandran Ashwin added gravitas to the occasion.

Celebration extends beyond cricket

Olympic and Paralympic heroes such as Murlikant Petkar, Deepa Malik and Devendra Jhajharia were also in attendance, alongside cinema icons Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan, creating a rare confluence of India’s most admired sporting and cultural figures.
