Jacob Bethell’s Century Keeps England in the Chase
England’s reply began cautiously but quickly gathered pace through a partnership between Jacob Bethell and Will Jacks.
The duo added 77 runs from just 39 balls, bringing England back into contention. Bethell was exceptional, smashing boundaries across the ground and eventually scoring a brilliant 105 from 48 balls.
What the market is missing is how England nearly pulled off one of the greatest chases in T20 World Cup history despite the huge target.
Relay Catch Turns the Match
One of the defining moments came through a spectacular fielding effort from Axar Patel and Shivam Dube.
When Will Jacks launched a towering shot towards the boundary, Axar sprinted to the rope and caught the ball mid air before tossing it back into play as he crossed the boundary. Dube then completed the relay catch inside the field.
The athletic effort dismissed Jacks for 35 and halted England’s growing momentum.
Bowlers Hold Nerve in Final Overs
India’s bowlers delivered under pressure during the closing stages. Hardik Pandya struck twice at key moments, while Jasprit Bumrah bowled a decisive 18th over, conceding just six runs.
Varun Chakaravarthy and Axar Patel also chipped in with wickets.
Despite a late burst from Jofra Archer, who smashed three sixes in the final over, England fell short of the target.
The result sends India into the final with momentum, setting up a blockbuster title clash against New Zealand in Ahmedabad.
