Stock Market Today: Sensex, Nifty Slip Below Key Levels Amid Global Cues

Stock Market Today: The Indian stock market opened flat on Thursday, June 12, but quickly slipped into negative territory amid weak global trends and profit booking after six days of gains. The BSE Sensex opened at 82,571.67, slightly higher than its previous close of 82,515.14, while the Nifty 50 started the day at 25,164.45, up 22 points from Wednesday’s close.

At the sectoral level, the Nifty Bank index started marginally positive at 56,480.90. However, the Nifty IT index led the losers, shedding 0.72% at the open.

Expert Take

“The recent flattish trend is expected to continue as there are no strong positive catalysts,” said VK Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist at Geojit. He noted that Nifty’s key support lies at 24,800, while resistance is around 25,300. If that level is breached, the next target is 25,500.
