Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has released the fifth instalment of the Subhadra Yojana, transferring ₹5,000 directly into the bank accounts of more than one crore eligible women across the state.
The payment was released on the occasion of Rakhi Purnima, with the latest disbursement covering 1,03,26,162 beneficiaries.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi formally launched the payment process during an event in Nayagarh.
Subhadra Yojana Fifth Instalment Released
For the majority of beneficiaries, the latest payment amounts to ₹5,000, representing the fifth instalment under the state government’s flagship women-focused welfare programme.
The money has been transferred directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts, allowing eligible women to access the assistance without an intermediary payment process.
2.21 Lakh Women Receive ₹25,000
A special category of beneficiaries received a significantly higher amount in the latest transfer.
Around 2,21,054 women, who had not received previous instalments, received their pending payments along with the fifth instalment.
As a result, each of these beneficiaries received a lump-sum amount of ₹25,000.
This combined payment accounts for the instalments that were pending from earlier payment cycles.
How Much Money Does Subhadra Yojana Provide?
Under the Subhadra Yojana, every eligible woman is entitled to receive a total financial assistance of ₹50,000 over a period of five years.
The assistance is distributed through annual payments, providing beneficiaries with regular financial support.
The scheme is aimed at strengthening women’s financial independence and providing direct monetary assistance to eligible women across Odisha.
Why the Latest Subhadra Payment Is Important
The fifth instalment comes during the festive period of Rakhi Purnima, providing beneficiaries with additional financial support at a time when household expenditure can increase.
The direct bank transfer mechanism also allows the government to disburse assistance at scale across the state.
With more than 1.03 crore women covered in the latest payment, the latest release represents another major phase in the implementation of the Subhadra Yojana.
For women who received ₹5,000, the amount represents their fifth instalment. Meanwhile, beneficiaries whose earlier payments were pending have received the accumulated amount of ₹25,000 in the latest disbursement.
