India captain Suryakumar Yadav on Bumrah Arshdeep drew an interesting parallel after India’s five-wicket victory over Australia in the second T20I. He compared the new-ball pair of Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh to the top-order duo of Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma, crediting their balance and chemistry for the team’s success.
“They’re a fantastic pair — a bit like Shubman and Abhishek up top. Bumrah does his job quietly, keeps it tight, and Arshdeep capitalises from the other end. Together, they’re a really lethal combination,” Suryakumar said after the match.

Suryakumar also celebrated breaking his toss-losing streak, saying, “It felt like we’d lost 19 or 20 tosses in a row, so it was great to break that streak. Winning the toss was important today, and I’m really happy with how the team performed.”
He highlighted the depth of India’s squad after three changes in the playing XI worked well. “Those guys were practising really hard and waiting for their chance. Washi showed great flexibility, Jitesh contributed well, and Arshdeep was outstanding. It felt like the right combination tonight,” he added.
Arshdeep Singh Shines as Player of the Match
Arshdeep Singh delivered a match-winning spell and was named Player of the Match. “It feels great to contribute when I get the chance. When someone like Bumrah is bowling from the other end, batters often take more risks against me — that gives wicket-taking opportunities,” he said.
“I just try to enjoy my bowling and keep my plans simple. No matter the situation — powerplay or death — I focus on execution and stick to what I’ve practised,” Arshdeep added. His return to form will be a key advantage for India heading into the next games.
India Aim for Consistency as Series Heads to Gold Coast
Despite India’s strong showing, questions remain over Shubman Gill’s form in this format. Washington Sundar, Jitesh Sharma, and Varun Chakravarthy’s performances were major positives, giving the team added balance.
With the series now level at 1-1, both sides will aim to deliver complete performances in the remaining matches. India will play the next T20I at Bill Pippen Oval, Gold Coast, on November 6, a venue they have never played at before. Australia, on the other hand, are hopeful of Glenn Maxwell’s return and will look for stronger starts with the bat.
