Trump Blames Democrats for Iran Strike Leak, Demands Prosecution

Washington, D.C.: President Donald Trump has accused Democrats of leaking classified intelligence related to the recent U.S. airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, calling for their prosecution and labeling the incident a grave threat to national security.

Trump wrote on Truth Social, “The Democrats are the ones who leaked the information on the perfect flight to the nuclear sites in Iran. They should be prosecuted!”

The backlash follows the leak of a Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) report, which suggested the strikes—part of Operation Midnight Hammer—may have failed to destroy Iran’s key nuclear assets, as some materials were allegedly moved beforehand.

White House: Leak Is a Crime, FBI Probe Underway

At a press briefing on Thursday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated unequivocally that the incident involved top secret classified intelligence, and emphasized that leaking such information is a federal crime.

“The FBI is looking for the leaker, so you’ll have to ask them in the Department of Justice in terms of this investigation. But, you know, leaking top secret classified intelligence is a crime, and people need to be held accountable for that crime,” Leavitt said.

She further stressed the administration’s commitment to securing sensitive national security data:

“This administration wants to ensure that classified intelligence is not ending up in irresponsible hands, and that people who have the privilege of viewing this top secret classified information are being responsible with it.

Unfortunately, clearly someone who had their hands on this—and it was a very few number of people in our government who saw this report—that person was irresponsible with it. We need to get to the bottom of it, and we need to strengthen that process to protect our national security and protect the American public.”

Disputed Claims About Iran’s Nuclear Materials

While Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth maintained that there’s no official intel confirming the relocation of enriched uranium by Iran prior to the airstrikes, reports—including one from The New York Times citing Israeli officials—suggest that 400kg of highly enriched uranium was moved from Fordow before the bombing began.

The Pentagon has provided limited detail on the operation’s success, with Hegseth defending its planning and execution while avoiding direct commentary on the leaked assessment.

Operation Midnight Hammer: Strategic Strike, Controversial Outcome

The U.S. launched Operation Midnight Hammer on Saturday, deploying seven B-2 bombers to deliver bunker-busting bombs on Iran’s fortified nuclear sites in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. Though the Pentagon hailed it as a success, the intelligence leak has cast doubts on its actual impact, especially if nuclear materials were removed in advance.

Mounting Political Tensions

The leak has sparked political uproar, especially with the 2025 elections on the horizon. Trump’s accusation against the Democrats and the White House’s strong response indicate a deepening divide over national security, transparency, and accountability within the highest levels of the U.S. government.
