Trump Reaffirms U.S. Troops in Poland

Published on

Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday dismissed speculation about American troop withdrawals from Eastern Europe, confirming that U.S. forces will remain stationed in Poland and could even increase.

Speaking at the White House alongside Poland’s new president Karol Nawrocki, Trump pledged that Washington would continue to “help Poland protect itself,” describing the country as a key partner on NATO’s eastern flank.

When asked about the future of American soldiers in the region, Trump said: “We’ll put more there if they want.” His comments underscored his administration’s commitment to reinforcing security in Poland, which borders Russia and remains strategically vital for NATO.

President Karol Nawrocki, making his first overseas visit since taking office last month, expressed gratitude for the reassurance. “Those relations for me, for Poland, for Poles, are very important,” Nawrocki said, highlighting the importance of continued U.S.-Poland cooperation.

The continued presence of U.S. troops in Poland is widely viewed as a crucial guarantee of security for Warsaw, especially given ongoing tensions in Eastern Europe. Trump’s remarks suggest that the United States could deepen its military footprint in the country if requested by Polish authorities.
