UIDAI Extends Free Aadhaar Card Update Deadline Till June 2026, Step-by-Step Online Process Explained

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has extended the deadline for free Aadhaar document updates to June 14, 2026, offering users an additional year to update their identification and address documents online at no cost. Previously, this service required a fee of ₹50.

Aadhaar Update Mandatory Every 10 Years

UIDAI recommends Aadhaar holders update their documents every 10 years from the date of issuance. This includes uploading valid proof of identity and address. For children, biometric details must be updated between the ages of 5 and 15 on their Blue Aadhaar card, as per the Aadhaar Enrolment and Update Regulations, 2016.

How to Update Aadhaar Card Details Online for Free

Here’s a step-by-step guide to update Aadhaar details online:

  1. Visit: https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/
  2. Login: Enter your Aadhaar number and the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
  3. Review Existing Data: Verify current identity and address information.
  4. Upload Documents: Choose the ID/address proof from the drop-down and upload the file (under 2 MB, formats: JPEG, PNG, PDF).
  5. Submit: Review and submit the update. You will receive a Service Request Number (SRN) to track your request.

What You Cannot Update Online

While identity and address updates can be done online, biometrics, mobile number, name, or photograph changes must be made at the nearest UIDAI-authorised Aadhaar Seva Kendra.

With this extension, the government encourages all Aadhaar holders to keep their details updated to ensure continued access to public services. The free window for updates ends on June 14, 2026.
